Gaucho from Salta. There are plenty of folklore restaurants where traditional music is performed and danced, and where regional dishes and wines can be tasted. There are also many establishments selling craftsmanship, where the silver, pottery and fabric works stand out.Salta presents much local fare including empanadas and tamales. The cheese and corn paste cooked in the husks or humita can be found in the many restaurants that populate the city. Other local favorites include two types of stew. One is locro, a slow-cooked concoction that has scallions, meat, and corn. The other is more of a spicy soup called mondongo, complete with trip and red pepper.
